I. ENGLISH AS a SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL)
A) REGULAR GROUP CLASSES
All classes are offered at our center and have between 3 and 9 students. Each student receives a lot of individualized attention. We don’t follow a fixed curriculum, but are a student-centered program. Whenever a student has a special need or request, we use this information to create a lesson. Grammar is integrated naturally into the content of the class. All language skills are taught: listening, speaking, reading and writing. In addition, we emphasize vocabulary development and focus on pronunciation problems when necessary. Our teachers are language-teaching professionals and English is the only language of instruction. Classes meet two times per week (4 hours per week) and we offer both AM and PM classes.
B) PRIVATE/SEMI PRIVATE CLASSES
All classes are offered at our center. This is individualized instruction designed to fit a student’s specific needs.
C) LIFE ASSISTANCE
This is a service offered to people who speak some English but need assistance with a doctor’s appointment, a lawyer, a court appearance, writing a letter, paying a bill, making a phone call or meeting with a child’s teacher. We will accompany a client if necessary and help provide him/her with responsible accurate information. Helping students create resumes is another service we offer. This is NOT a translation or interpretation service.
II. ENGLISH AS a FOREIGN LANGUAGE (EFL)
D) PRIVATE/SEMI PRIVATE LESSONS
These lessons are offered either at our center or at a student’s vacation home (additional fee). They are designed for people who come from abroad to vacation in southwest Florida. The content of the lessons is based on information students provide to the director before they arrive. The director creates a flexible individualized program to meet the student’s needs and desires.
E) LIVE & LEARN ENGLISH
An intensive immersion program (two weeks to one month) where a student lives in the home of a professional English language teacher. This program offers a combination of formal classes and “shadowing” where the student accompanies the teacher through regular daily activities. Students pay for their own transportation and food.
